Dr. Steven B. Kirshner

Dr. Steven B. Kirshner was born and raised in the Philadelphia area. He completed both his surgical internship and residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. He completed a fellowship in spinal surgery at The Texas Institute for Spinal Disorders in Houston, Tx. Dr. Kirshner has been practicing as a spinal surgeon in Southern NJ since 1989.

Dr. Kirshner was NJ’s first spine surgeon to perform lumbar total disc replacement following its FDA approval. To date he has performed more motionsparing surgery than any spinal surgeon in NJ. Dr. Kirshner was also the first to implant a flexible rod system approved by the FDA in 2004. Dr. Kirshner performs the majority of his surgeries through a minimally invasive technique, returning patients home and back to work much earlier.

Dr. Kirshner is responsible for organizing The South Jersey Spine Counsel, a group of spinal surgeons throughout Southern NJ and Southeastern Pa. He is well known and highly regarded throughout the area.

Dr. Kirshner teaches and lectures throughout the United States and internationally. In March 2007, he was invited to Brazil as a keynote speaker to present on Dynesys Flexible Rod and motion sparing technology. In 2007, he taught neurosurgeons at the AANS in Washington, D.C.
